Scientific proof for the Kumbha crowd - 16.6 million took bath on 14th April 2010 at Haridwar, Maha Kumbha Mela
Kalpavasi.com congratulates the Kumbha Mela authorities on negotiating the world’s largest event without much untoward incidences
Many have wondered about the sheer numbers declared by the governmental sources and there have been more sceptics than believers for official numbers for the bath
However, all this seems to have been put to rest as for the first time in the history of Kumbh Mela, scientists used satellite data to arrive at an authentic figure of pilgrims taking dip in the Ganges at Haridwar, which was 16.6 million or 1.66 crores on April 14
On the request of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, a team of 12 scientists of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) India’s own NASA and Uttarakhand State Space Centre took the help of satellite to count the number of pilgrims. The scientists also documented the management of the huge crowd of pilgrims as well as the infrastructural facilities in the form of a report which would help in effective in conducting future Maha Kumbha melas and other such big gatherings
Kalpavasi.com is delighted to find scientific backing for the number of bathers and attendees for the Kumbha Mela and wish to extend its support to the Government and research organization for the forthcoming Maha Kumbhas
